Farm Assignment
We took a field trip to the Everdale Farm which was an organic farm. We learned how to hoe asparagus fields to rid the crops from weeds. This is a practice that takes place at organic farms because farms that grow Genetically Modified Organisms use pesticides to get rid of weeds or insects. The chickens grown at the farm are outdoor grown and allowed to walk freely in an area. They are fed nutritious chicken food and the organic eggs are collected for sale. The farmers were explaining how families would drive in to there farm on certain days to pick up fresh food grown at their farm. The benefits of doing this are getting the natural and healthy nutrients they should be. There are no use of pesticides or GMO’s and it gives people a warm feeling for supporting a local farmer. Some people purchase fresh food from farms in order to know exactly where their food is coming from. The demand for organic foods these days are rising. On average the farm is to get a total of three hundred different families coming to purchase food on the weekends. It was very neat seeing all the different ways the food was naturally grown. The farm using techniques of human labor to look after the crops and maintain proper growth organically.

These blogs appeal to me because they have a variety of good tasting recipe choices where they are all made with organic or healthy foods. I enjoy looking at the displayed example picture of the recipe because they usually make you start drooling just by looking at it. Healthy eating is essential in todays society. Majority of people want to stay fit, and the best way to do that is by exercising and eating healthy. The popularity of eating organic or natural is spreading so much because it is the key to a healthy life. I was very appreciative of what the farmers do for a living because without their efforts to grow natural foods that will maintain healthy lives for the public we wouldn’t know where our food came from. It’s also good to meet the people growing your food to know it’s a good surrounding.

My Favorite News Broadcaster
My favorite satirical news broadcaster is Conan O’Brien on the show the Late Night with Conan O’Brien. This show would be described as a traditional late-night talk show where Conan will draw his comedy from recent news stories, political figures and well-known celebrities. Just by the way Conan expresses his comedy through recent news shows a bias view towards that news. Conan is displaying his comedy through his opinion and towards controversial news topics that could possibly offend viewers of the opposite belief. He is my favorite because of the way he delivers his humor in a serious manner towards the viewers but will leave the audience laughing. He almost jokes around with the viewer so it’s good to know not to take him too seriously at points. I believe he would have a very tough job especially with the great opposing political sides in the United States, one bias opinion towards one politician that viewers are in favor of could anger them. The United States is filled with hundreds of millions of different people with different views, of course some of his humor will be considered distasteful or insulting by certain people. Conan is known for his short comedy skits during his show relating to recent news which sometimes can definitely offend the listeners. My favorite Conan moment was when he was introducing himself at an award show and he decides to tell the audience about what the network wanted him to do. Video is below.
